Hypnotherapy for Children
Children can suffer from many of the same problems and difficulties that adults do. They feel pressure to perform at school just as adults do at work. Parents often don’t realise the pressures they might put on their children and forget how intense things can seem to a child. All sorts of problems can occur from:
- Poor grades
- Dealing with emotions
- How to deal with pressure
- Bad habits like nail biting of thumb sucking
- Bed wetting
- Phobias of the dentist or needles
- Low self-esteem or confidence
These are just a few examples but ones which can have a large impact on a child’s life. They are very sensitive to change and may struggle, be it with parents’ divorce or perhaps to do with their own identity or changes in their bodies.
How can hypnotherapy for children help? Is it suitable for children?
Hypnotherapy can be very helpful to children. They are much more willing to accept suggestion and have incredible imaginations. These aspects of their character are a great benefit when using hypnotherapy. By getting a child to see an issue that has troubled them in a calm relaxed state where they can imagine the problem as something else, perhaps a colour or sound helps them deal with the issue without it being too intense.
Younger children can be very well suited to hypnotherapy as they have strong imaginations and are much more open to suggestion. By using their imaginations issues can be solved in a non-threatening manor in a calm, safe environment. Younger children sometimes find it hard to understand a situation or why they feel a certain way. By letting them experience the distressing situation in their own way they can better come to understand and resolve the issue.
Children of all ages can suffer
When discussing children this can also apply to teenagers. Often they struggle with school, exams, peer pressure and issues over their own character. These are after all the years we develop and can be very stressful for many teenagers. Hypnotherapy can teach teenagers a host of skills and techniques to help them cope better with problems they may face as well as helping to boost their confidence and self worth.
